Please note: prices are for a small piece of cheese, depending on the cut, but on average around 200g. Before opening his first shop, partner and founder Iain Mellis had worked in the British cheese industry for almost 15 years. For some time he had felt that there was a lack of opportunity to buy high quality farmhouse cheese, both in the retail and wholesale sector. Mellis Cheesemongers have now been trading for over 25 years, bringing together producers and consumers for mutual benefit. The aim for the future is to continue this process while continually striving to improve.
COMTE - the classic Comte. Lovely creamy texture with a sharp and nutty finish. We age our Comte for 22 months.
Ingredients: Raw Cows milk, salt, traditional rennet
CASHEL BLUE - A creamy, soft cows milk cheese from County Cork, Ireland. Subtle in flavour and buttery in texture.
ISLE OF MULL CHEDDAR - A fantastically sharp and salty cheddar made on the Isle of Mull. Aged for 18 months on the west coast of Scotland.
Ingredients: Raw Cows milk, salt, traditional rennet
BRIE DE MEAUX - The classic soft French cheese. Our Brie comes from the Donge family farm in Triconville. Soft, creamy with a melt in the mouth texture. This is a relatively strong Brie with a nice salty finish
